ZTree Forum reborn - two alternatives

Hello,

I tried to create Ztree forum on groups.io just days before this one was announced on Facebook.

So there are now two announced forums:

I want not to force to move there, but I am afraid in comparison of features, there is probably much better to choose group.io then this fossil script.

Free profile of forum seems to be sufficient. Groups.io hosts tons of interesting forums and have more than 10 years history.

There are lot of problems with spammers, security, files backups etc which is hard to solve for forum provider.

Decision is on Kim Henkel. So I hope Kim will do it asap and anonce which one forum will be official and which one to ignore.

If you want contact me and will give to Kim or other person admin rights to test forum possibilities from admin point of view.

The old forum had about 400 members. If Kim has access to the original old forum disk, it would be nice to send them an email (after he decides which one forum to choose). I hope there are still a lot of interesting topics about this great tool. So, the forum's robustness and stability will be important.

I will copy this message to groups.io and Facebook...

Sincerely Zdenek OK7DR

Hi Zdenek,

Thank you for taking this initiative!

The forum at https://groups.io/g/ZtreeWin does seem a lot nicer, and supports (a lot) more features, since it’s a dedicated forum platform (instead of Fossil, which is at its core a versioning system, with the forum functionality added on top).

Yours is also more future-proof than mine. If something were to happen to me, like it seems it has to Víctor, this site would probably disappear as well (even though I've taken steps to keep a ‘backup’ copy on chiselapp.com). If multiple people are registered as admins, moderators or owners of the group at https://groups.io/g/ZtreeWin, I'm guessing someone else could step up before the group's closure.

I had only set this up because I missed the old forum, and thought other people might as well; and since I don’t have a lot of free time, I just went with what was the easiest for me to set up. If someone else wants to host the forum, that’s totally fine by me! :-)

So unless a majority prefers this site to groups.io (which I don't expect), I will post a message referring everyone to https://groups.io/g/ZtreeWin, and will be closing this site in a few months.
